U.S. Department of State: Travel Alerts and Travel Warnings

Many of our customers are traveling abroad. There might be problematic situations our call center agents already helped you with. But of course we want you to have a nice and safe trip - wherever you are in the world.

This is why we like to recommend you the website of the U.S. Department of State informing about Travel Alerts and Travel Warnings. We guess this is not only interesting for U.S. Citizens but for all travelers worldwide.

Travel Warnings

With the Travel Warnings the U.S. Department of State wants you to think about making a trip to another country at all. The Travel Warning informs about dangers such as unstable governments, civil wars, ongoing intense crime or violence, or frequent terrorist attacks.

The Travel Warnings are not specified to a certain event but to a mid- or long-term situation. They remain until the situation has been changed completely. Sometimes a warning might remain in this list for years.

Travel Alerts

The Travel Alert informs about a short-term event, such as election season, strikes, demonstrations or health alerts (e.g. outbreak of epidemies). Elevated risk of terroristic attacks can raise a Travel Alert as well.

The Travel Alert will be canceled as soon as the short-term event is no longer persisting.
